Haymes Simply Woodcare Dexpress
Dexpress is formulated with Hybrid Polymer technology. It enhances the look and longevity of your timber. This product is a water based finish and won’t crack or peel.
Dexpress will enhance the look and longevity of Australia's favourite decking timbers including Merbau, Spotted Gum and Treated Pine, it's tested and proven to withstand the harsh Australian climate. It is UV & mould resistant and quick drying.
It is best applied with a brush, mohair applicator, mohair roller, lambswool applicator. It is touch dry in 20 minutes. It is water wash-up and can be recoated in 2 hours. Thinning is not recommended.
Under normal conditions Dexpress will cover up to 12 square meters per litre. It is available in 1lt - 4lt and 10lt quantities.
Dexpress Merbau stain is usually the most preferred one for Merbau timber as it has a darker pigment. The darker pigment is one of the best and most budget friendly ways to achieve a uniform look on your deck as it easily hides imperfections.
DO NOT apply if rain is expected within 24 hours of application. Should rain or dew come into contact with the freshly applied finish white marks can appear. Pooled water should be removed using a soft mop.

Have you ever pictured a gorgeous river wood table in your living room? What a great attention getting one would make. Whilst this is a multi-day process at the end of the day the result will be a high gloss and UV resistant custom table - well worth the time and effort to make yourself a masterpiece that everyone will admire.
It all starts with a piece of reclaimed timber such as cedar or whatever else takes your fantasy and is a suitable length. Cut the time in half lengthways to create two pieces which are an even thickness. Use a belt sander to clear all dirt and imperfections such as bark from both pieces.
On a suitable flat surface build a container, or mold, to house the tabletop while the liquid resin dries. Start by cutting a piece of melamine to the desired dimensions of the table top. Using additional pieces of melamine, cut walls for the mold which will be tall enough to house the panels of reclaimed cedar, and any minor overflow of resin.
Place the two pieces of timber into the mould with the straight edges to the outside, leaving a gap in the middle of the pieces to make the river of epoxy.

A Bit about Paints
One factor that you need to consider, is the type of paint. Oil based paint or water based latex. Oil paints are great for durability and provide a really smooth coat. But they are also a lot harder to clean up. water based latex on the other hand has come a long way with the improved chemistry behind them, and can be cleaned with water.
Another deciding factor in the higher grade, higher priced paints, is application. The higher grade paints contain a titanium in the mix, which gives the paint more coverage and a smoother finish. So it does a better job at covering up those small imperfections that come with time. With a lower grade paint, you may need 3-4 and sometimes even 5 coats to get the same effect as you would with the more expensive paint.
When applied by paintbrush, cheaper paints show brush marks and provide poor coverage due to the thin layers they create. Higher-quality paints provide smooth, one-coat coverage. This will save you a lot of time, and also mean less usage. You may only need 4 litres of a high quality paint, as compared to 12-16 litres of the lower grade to cover the same area with multiple coats.
Another big difference is in durability. The more expensive paints are also more washable and offer greater scrub resistance. If you try washing dirt off a cheaper paint, you're likely to wash off some of the paint itself. And no one wants to see that 1970’s green showing up on your newly refreshed wall do they? When choosing paint colours, pick a paint chip that appeals to you, and match it to the store's fan deck; the colours are listed alphabetically and numerically. Next, check the light reflective value (LRV) of the paint. This is a scientific measurement of how dark or light the paint will be once it's on your walls.
As a general rule, interior paints should have an LRV of 50 percent or more. Keep in mind that the colour will appear more vibrant when you apply it to the walls.
